About PBI

The Portuguese Bible Institute (PBI) or Instituto Bíblico Português (IBP) is an interdenominational Bible College, located outside Lisbon. It was set up in 1974 by Greater Europe Mission to provide Portuguese Christians with a place where they could learn the essentials of God's Word and receive training in evangelism and church growth.

In the intervening years, the institute has grown in influence and is widely respected within the Portuguese evangelical community as a source for Bible teaching and training.

Currently operating to fulfill its mission: “To equip, in collaboration with churches, servants of God to effectively exercise and multiply their ministries for the extension of the Kingdom”, the Institute comprises an international staff of full and part-time teachers.

Gary & Terri Camlin, our friends and missionary partners, are serving with ReachGlobal, the International Mission of the Evangelical Free Church of America. They have lived in Loures, a suburb of Lisbon, Portugal since 1997. Gary serves as Assistant Director of the Portuguese Bible Institute (PBI) and professor of practical theology and New Testament exegesis. Terri serves as administrative assistant of the school and also teaches English to elementary-age children in a small Christian school which meets on the campus of PBI.
